Recovering The Artist

Recovering the Artist is an art program and Exhibition that promotes the discovery and artistic talent throughout the substance abuse community. The program is design to foster a creative channel for expression, recovery, and an outlet of accomplishment, to encourage a self-rewarding achievement that promotes self-respect, self-worth, purpose, and a healthy engagement of active recovery.

Here’s how it works. Recovering addicts may participate in weekly art classes with professional instructors that help guide and enhance artistic technique. The classes are free to registered members and art supplies are included (i.e. canvasses, water color paints, acrylic paints, oils, charcoal). Our artists will attend our weekly classes and work on their latest piece(s) of art to be submitted in the following exhibition. All of the artwork in the exhibitions are created by recovering addicts.

The art submitted in the exhibit will be offered to the public for sale in the form of a donation. Each purchase will be in confidence, by sealed bid, and awarded to the highest bidder. Each piece of art will be sold as “Artist Proof” and have production rights up to 25 prints. In addition, each piece of art can be purchased on a tshirt. All funds received for the sale of our Artist’s work, online sales, sponsors, and donations will go back into supporting and growing our network of classes and exhibitions.

A Recovering artist does not have to attend the class to participate and may submit their artwork via our online registration portal at www.recoveringtheartist.com. We will have limited space for our live exhibition. In the event the exhibition is full, artists can elect to place their pieces in the following exhibition and/or offer their work for sale online.

We look forward to welcoming each Recovering Artist to our program and appreciate each person that elects to support our program by Donation and/or Sponsorship. We appreciate your involvement and support. Please click below and Join our program as an Artist.
