Race Details
The Race for Recovery will be held Sunday, September 16, 2018 beginning at 8:00am at the RIO Washingtonian Center. The race will begin near Dick’s Sporting Goods and finish near the plaza in front of Uncle Julio’s.
Packet Pick Up
Packet Pick Up will be available on Saturday, September 15 from 10:00am – 2:00pm at Fleet Feet in Gaithersburg (255 Kentlands Blvd). Packet Pick Up will also be available on race morning beginning at 6:45am on the plaza near Uncle Julio’s.
Parking
Parking will be available in the RIO Washingtonian Center garages. Please allow time to park and walk to the starting area near Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Race Course
The race course will begin near Dick’s Sporting Goods and after looping around the shopping area will lead runners to Washingtonian Blvd where they will utilize the sidewalk to access Boardwalk Place and the bike path around the lake beginning near Copper Canyon Grill. Runners will run two loops around the lake (faster runners please keep to the left!) before returning to the Washingtonian Blvd sidewalk and looping the shopping area to the finish near Uncle Julio’s.
Post-Race
After the race enjoy food, music and stick around for awards and prizes.
Be Part of the Fight
Your participation in the Race for Recovery will go a long way towards building awareness and raising funds to fight addiction and aid recovery efforts and we invite you to join us in making the day even more special.
Memory Board
Runners are invited to bring photos of loved ones who have been lost to addiction for our memory board. Photos will be collected at packet pick up and may be taken home from the memory board after the race.
Prescription Drop Box
We are pleased to partner with the City of Gaithersburg Police to bring their Prescription Drop Box to the race site. Prescription medications in homes are a common source of misuse and can be where addiction starts. Bring your unused or expired prescription medications to the race and dispose of them safely. You may wish to remove or black out personal information or remove labels but this is not necessary. All pill bottles will be accepted and no questions will be asked.
